Option 1: a low-cost kit from Utah DEQ

Utah DEQ offers low-cost short-term kits (about $11-$14) at radon.utah.gov, with the lab processing fee included (Utah DEQ; Utah County Health Department, Nov 2024). Prices may change.

Option 2: borrow a monitor from the Utah County Health Department

The department lends a professional continuous radon monitor from its Provo office, October through March, by appointment. There is a $25 fee, payable at pickup (card payments add a $1.50 service fee). It is not suitable for real estate transactions (Utah County Health).

Option 3: hardware-store kits

Test kits are also sold at most hardware stores, often $40 or more (Utah IBIS).

Option 4: a radon measurement professional

For a home sale, buyers usually hire a radon measurement professional. See radon testing when buying or selling.
